Hello fellow A.Netters,
I'm a regular SK and flies mainly out of Terminal 3 in Copenhagen. This morning I noticed a huge banner hanging from the ceiling claiming, Always Free with SAS:
- Seat Assignment
- 1 checked bag 23 kg
- Newspaper (yea right, if you happen to be among the first 40 people boarding)
Where on earth do the 23 kg originate from. Is that a "scientific calculation"? I mean, MTOW differes drastically from different aircraft, and SAS sure flies many different types.
Any one with insight, or how other carriers figure out the maximum wieght per bag??
Regards,
PL
I'm not part of the Airbus vs. Boeing war. I love them both!

I don't know why, but that's equivalent to 50 pounds. It's basically the same for many airlines. There are exceptions, of course, but that's a pretty standard weight.
Might have something to do with an American workforce rule getting extended to other parts of the globe... But I really don't know. But the number, yeah, it's 50 pounds.
