Greetings,

I had looked for advice back in January about a close (40 min) connection in LAX on my DEN - LIH trip (http://www.airliners.net/aviation-forums/aviation_polls/read.main/229976/). To my delight, Expedia was able to change our DEN - LAX fight to the night before on AA 3824 arriving in LAX at 2125hrs. That will give us plenty of time to connect   . Now I'd like to hear some opinions on hotels close to LAX. It seems like most do offer free shuttle service but I've read some reviews on Expedia and Hotels.com that some hotels shuttles are inconsistent. Our price range is $100-200 USD. I know this has been brought up before but not recently. Thanks in advance for any advice!
Eric

My favorite is Courtyard by Marriott LAX. If you check this out, be sure it is the one on Century Blvd. It is the second closest to the airport. The closer one is just about 250 feet closer and not as nice. The Courtyard has recently been refurbished, and because it is small it is quick in and out. Speaking of in and out, it is also very close to the famous In-n-Out with the great place to watch planes land.

When I fly US or WN I sometimes just walk to and from this hotel. If I've just missed the bus (which runs every 15-20 minutes) I can walk it in less time than waiting for the next bus. Not so good for AA since it is the farthest from the airport entrance. The buses are shared with a couple of other hotels so they run all the time. If you want a better meal (and don't mind walking farther, try Truxton's in Westchester. Or take a taxi there. Another good one is the Farm Store in El Segundo. Definitely need a taxi for that one.

Do Priceline - Many LAX area hotel notoriously participate and offer rates a fraction of their regular ones.

I believe all or most of the hotels right on Century or slightly off and close to the terminals offer the comp. shuttle. I have stayed at the Marriott CY, the Sheraton and Hilton and not had trouble using the shuttle. With that said -- the shuttle stops at more than one hotel - at peak times allow plenty of time. On my last layover at the LAX Hilton -- when we Hilton guests all boarded the shuttle on an early Friday morning -- it became almost full. There was not room for all additional pax at other hotel stops and they had to wait for next shuttle. Some were not happy about that and were panicked about departure times, etc.

Also the Crown Plaza is right across the Delta Hangar on Century. Nice Hotel, but the shuttle bus starts there and stops at 2 other Hotels before going to the Airport. I just walk it and it faster sometimes, or pay a cab 10 bucks to drop you off. HTH.
