Hi,
Flying Birmingham UK to Dubai in Business Class in a weeks time. Have been on the online booking form on the Emirates website to choose my seats. Seating plan says 'Lie flat seats / ICE entertainment'
Now are these likely to be the new business class seats or still the old style sleeper seats? If it says lie flat then they are the newer seats? Would it say Sleeperette seats on the seating plan if they were the old style or does it always say lie flat seats regardless?
I understand Emirates can chop and change the plane that will fly the route at the last minute meaning the style of seats could change.

For the rest of this month, it seems EK is operating a 2 class 777, with no first class, and what I'm assuming is they are the old business seats to Birmingham. It has the old ice, and not the new one, which is ice, digital widescreen. It says on the services by flight, on the EK website, that it has deeply reclining seats in J, which I assume are these:
Ahmad's pic of ek J
But you might get lucky, and get a last minute AC switch! You can check with your date of travel, and flight number on the EK website, on the services by flight page, just to be sure. Anyway, I hope you enjoy the emirates experience nonetheless!

Thanks for the reply - I have seen the services by flight part also and then when I click on seating plan on that section of the website, it also says lie flat seats - but I also noticed the 'deeply reclining seats' part it mentions too.
To be honest with you, when I look at the seating diagram within that 'services by flight' section, it never ever looks anything like the seating diagrams if you compare it with the fleet seating diagrams elswhere on the Emirates website - the 2 and 3 class config 777-300 ER diagrams look different to the one shown in services by flight - again hope that makes sense.
It doesnt really bother me that much, I would just like to have been able to watch the camera view of the plane while it is taking off and landing but with the old style seats you get the old style of tv which you cant watch during take off and landing I have been told - I am such a geek!!

Sorry just an addition to the above:
I looked at EK20 for today and services by flight and it shows deeply recling seats and 2 class with no first class and sleeperette seats with rows 1 to 6 all together - all the seats have a letter S on them and in the key it says sleeperette.
On looking at EK38 services by flight seating diagram, the words 'first class' are written but greyed out (I understand fully there is no first class product available on the BHX flights) and again it says deeply reclining seats, but then rows 1 to 5 are together, then it says bulkhead, and then row 6 is on its own, these seats have the letter L on them and in the key it says Lie Flat.
But if you look at Emirates fleet diagrams, there is no 777-300 ER seating diagram that matches the diagram that it shows for EK38.
I'm not trying to catch anybody out, I'm just trying to understand!!

There is no First Class to BHX (yet).
The J class seats on this route are a mixture of the old and new style. It's just the luck of the draw which you will get on that day.
