UA A320's In The Early Days

Does anybody by any chance have any pictures of what the interiors on their A320's looked like when they were first delivered in the early 90's (can't remember if their first one (N401UA) joined in 1991 or 1993. Any pics would be greatly appreciated! The earliest pictures in the a.net database goes back to 1998 or 1999.

They were before the latest seats with the winged headrest. The latest generation of seats was installed in 1997-2000 across the narrowbody fleet (except the 727s and 737s).

The A320s did not have the same old light brown/grey first class seats that were on the 757s and 737s. They had a darker grey seat. They were just a large leather recliner similar to what was on the 757 and 737, but not exactly the same in first class.

I never flew the A320 in the old configuration in economy, so I can't comment on them in back.


If you have never designed an airplane part before, let the real designers do the work!

Also UA got 320 deliveries through the late 1990s so I'm sure some of the later deliveries had the current seat design.

Did the original UA A320's have the monitors that came out of the ceiling? Were these included on the earliest A320's delivered to Braniff, etc.?

Thanks. Does anyone know if the A320's had the fold-down monitors available since the beginning ... ie 1987?

Although IIRC, some early NW A320s had flip down LCDs delivered directly to them -- since then have been removed (dumb).

UA A320 and CO 757 were delievered around the same time and had LCDs standard.
