I just read about the PreCheck program TSA is putting in place. I understand that customers who agree to give up info and belong to certain FF programs will be directed to an expedited line where they wont be forced to take off belts, remove shoes, laptops from bags or liquids. My question is...will these lanes use a regular metal detector or will these PreCheck customers still be subjected to the PornoScanner and/or grope? Anyone have info?

Supposedly it'll be WTMD. Who knows what'll happen in the future though.
As someone who has NEXUS and Global Entry, pre-check is a great thing. CBP and CBSA trust me enough to enter the US or Canada without much checking yet the TSA still treats me like a threat when I go through an airport. Heck, in Canada I can use "NEXUS expedited screening" when flying there. Makes no sense...

I participated in the trial program these last few months being a Global Entry member.
The concept does have validity, however I hate to say it, if its too broadly expanded it will likely not end up being much faster or different than the general security check.
While in theory the TSA will allow participants to avoid some of the more laborious checks - to keep people guessing and deter the expectation that you will always be afforded the reduced screening my experience has been that less than 50% of the time at participating airports are you able to truly enjoy this. One thing I noticed, is that at least during the trial, check points were not always set up for this expedited handling - seems like they only did it for a few hours at a time at some locations.
