Olympic Air - Domestic Routes Question

Hi all,

I am travelling to Greece in June and I was looking to book domestic flights from ATH to Naxos or Paros.

OA is the only one of the two Greek airlines that fly the routes .... but only available to book March 24th/25th after which there's no availability shown.

Looking into this further, I see that Astypalaia, Ikaria, Kalymnos, Karpathos, Kithira, Leros, Milos, Naxos, Paros, Syros, and Zakinthos (all Dash 8-100 routes) all seem to disappear after the end of March .... do I assume that OA has withdrawn service from these smaller markets completely thereafter?

If this is the case, given that some of these airports aren't big enough to take charter jets (for example, Naxos Rwy is 0.67m, Paros Rwy is only 0.46m!), is that the end of the road for those airports?

Any info would be greatly appreciated folks .... thank you in advance.

Meanwhile, I don't look forward to 5.5 hours on a ferry!

Wow those are really short runways!

Sorry, someone had to say it!

Regarding your question, I can't answer it unfortunantly. But I believe you will have an easier time getting an answer to this question in the Travel, Polls and Prefs subforum.

I'm guessing you're looking at the OA website? A couple of friends of mine flew internally in Greece last summer and will again this summer and they mentioned that the OA website only sells tickets not too far in advance. If you go to the likes of Opodo, etc, they managed to book their internal flights much earlier than by booking directly with the airline.

I don't get it, domestic flights are also offered by ASTRA AIRLINES http://www.astra-airlines.gr and SKY EXPRESS http://www.skyexpress.gr .

Yes, but these two don't fly to Naxos or Paros where "yodobashi" wants to go.

Thanks MANmatt, I was indeed looking on the OA website and have since tried Opodo, Expedia etc and it's a big fat zero flights found there too .... seems those island communities are losing their air connections to the mainland unless OA gets it's act together and releases summer availability soon.

Thanks debonair, I wasn't aware of these but I certainly look into them for future trips; as Skyeurope points out though, no good for this trip as they don't go to any of my required destinations.
