I flew G-VIIP LGW-MCO on the 21st February, and I'm flying it back to LGW tomorrow (20th March). I flew and am flying in the World traveller plus cabin and i was surprised to see how bad the IFE system is, especially compared to economy on the Thomson airways 767-300ER i flew last year (G-OBYE). The screen is tiny, it flickers really badly to the extent of barely being able to see anything on it. Poor navigational buttons too. I heard BA are updating their IFE system on the 777-200 range, so does anyone know if and when this aircraft will be updated to the new system. Unless of course it is already updated, in which case i wouldn't even call it an upgrade as it's so pathetic.
Also, aren't BA supposed to be installing a new WTP cabin? I was surprised how bad it was, being the first time I've flown on WTP. The seats are uncomfortable, the fabric looks dirty, the IFE is pathetic and the recline is appalling. I hate to make comparisons but again the Thomson Airways 767 i flew on last year in economy was far more well equipped. Larger screen, more responsive, better options, no flickering, leather seats, and the recline was about the same if not slightly more as far as i could tell compared the BA 777.
I really expected more after paying over £500 more for WTP rather than standard Economy, i dread to think how bad that must be.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but there are three versions of IFE on BA's 777s:
1. Old tape channels (on some 4-class 777s - these are the ones that are getting the refurb)
2. On demand (like on the one you flew on to MCO)
3. Shiny new on demand (available on the 777-300s and on the refurbed 4-class 777s that currently have type 1)
Next flights: LGW-LBA-LGW, LHR-SIN-SYD, SYD-BKK-LHR, LGW-GRO, GRO-CIA, CIA-MAD, MAD-LGW
