Hello everyone, I will be flying to SFO next Sunday (should be there by 7 pm) and was wondering how to get to my hotel in the Financial District.
I doubt renting a car would be a "convenient" way to get there as there's no parking in the hotel and I don't see the need to have a car, the offices I will be visiting are within walking distance from the hotel.

I second BART. It is the easiest way downtown. You might have to walk a bit, but it is relatively close to where the main hotels are and the station is conveniently located in the center of SFO.
Taking a car would be slower and also the parking in downtown San Francisco tends to be about $40 per night.
If you have never designed an airplane part before, let the real designers do the work!

Just did this last month, though I was going to the Union Square area. The BART station at SFO is accessible via the free AirTrain people-mover. I recommend BART as well.
The BART fare machines take credit cards, which is nice. If you're not going to use BART except to/from the airport, just buy a farecard for 2x the one-way fare so you don't have to buy another farecard as you depart. Already having my farecard allowed me to catch a train that was just arriving and saved me 15 minutes of waiting at the station.

What hotel are you staying at? This will have a play in taking a taxi or BART.

From someone that lives in the Bay Area I would go with a cab. Its about a 15 min drive to downtown from the airport so not that far. Plus I have my issues with bart. Its noisy. Dirty and not always on time. Plus depending on the area where your hotel is the bart station will most likely stop somewhere along market which can be a not-so-good area. Just my 2 cents

To go from SFO to Pier 39/Fishermans Wharf, take BART to Powell St. Then you can hop a cable car or the streetcar F line to there. If you have luggage and wanna go to the wharf, hop in a taxi. Will be easier.

I know I didn't mention it on my OP, but a taxi even though is probably the most convenient way to get there, it is also way more expensive.

The hotel is about a block from Market between 7th & 8th st, seeing where the station is on google maps, it looks like it's a short walk; I will consider what you say it about it not being a good area though.

Yeah just a lot of homeless and pan handlers on Market. BART should be fine. And if you need a reccomendation for food I must suggest Radius. Its also between 7th and 8th 4 blocks down on Folsom.

Take BART to Civic Center which is 8th St. Holiday Inn, for instance, is right there on 8th St. Exit to the far right has the escalator, other exits have stairs on either side of Market.

At that time of the night, I would be quite hesitant to be walking around 8th street. Try Super Shuttle, not much more than BART.

Exactly. Reason why I believe cab is the better choice. Or shuttle
