Air Asia / Jetstar / KLM / Qatar (all around the same prices) to SIN and Jetstar / Tiger Airways / United (all around the same prices) to HKG, but it is going to be a much longer trip, and not sure it will be that much cheaper.

There are soo much options...
How about AIR ASIA, LION AIR etc. to Jakarta; followed by AIR ASIA from Jakarta to Hong Kong,
If you you are an aviation enthusiast, a MUST DO is to fly with AIR ASIA to BKK- connecting to EXOTIC flights a la EMIRATES A380, Orient Thai B747 etc.!

That classic moment when you ask for cheap tickets and a.net members route you to so you can fly on African widebodies.
I suggest you shop around at HK travel agencies, they're quite inventive and should be able to get you an affordable connection. I once took a CI HKG-CGK flight and continued to DPS domestically with Air Asia, but that was many years ago.

Quoting initious (Reply 4): From BKK you can even fly RJ A332, PK A310, KQ & ET 767.. etc all to HKG!
Yes, as a more member of this board I know that flying any exotic carrier on the BKK-HKG leg is a must ...but on this time I could need to fly DPS-HKG non-stop if I find reasonable prices as I'll have not many days to enjoy my Asian journey. If I can find a good price I'll fly 2 or 3 days later HKG-Europe with SU where sometimes it's possible to buy a real bargain from/to HKG both, one-way or return.

That's why I love this site many of us really got a genuine, sincere interest for the civil aviation business. It is not understood in a travel or adventure forum where the flight is only a necessary requirement for getting a destination. I think we enjoy a lot more!
