I booked my first UA trip LHR-LAX-SFO-EWR-LHR for June and was wondering the following:

1) Is there AVOD on all the following UA/CO jets: 772, 320, 739 and 752?

2) Does the famous channel 9 still exist? It would be lovely to listen to it every now and then.

3) How's UA service in general?

4) How long should it take me to transfer from the LHR flight to the SFO flight in LAX without any checked bags? I'll be landing at 1:30pm (flight 935)

Thanks!

Where aviation is not the side show, it's the main show!!!

There is AVOD on all sCO 777s and reconfigured UA IPTE 777s. Non-reconfigured 777s have looped video PTVs at each seat with cassette video in First. Domestic 777s have overhead video.

sCO 757-200s have AVOD. sUA 757-200s and sCO 757-300s have overhead video.

A320s have overhead video.

737-900ERs have DirecTV, although a small number of new deliveries are 'dark', that is, no IFE at all.

Yes, but in my experience pilots only switch it on 50%, or less.

A mixed bag.

IME, the busiest time at T7 FIS is late AM, when NRT/SYD/MEX arrive. I would say an hour should be more than sufficient to clear customs and get back through security.

You should also have AVOD on your 752 ride EWR-LHR.

Channel 9 is only on the UA fleet (as of yet), so it could be on LAX-SFO or SFO-EWR if it's on PMUA metal. Those flights are about half and half between PMCO and PMUA metal, so you'll have to check the equipment.

My experience is that Channel 9 is on more like 60-70% of the time when available, but it is hit or miss.

I fly UA a lot and the experience is generally quite good. But I'm 1K. If you are non-elite, well, things might be different.

On my last two SFO-IAD flights, the pilot and first officer were in and out of the cockpit so often (food, drinks, lavatory, simply chatting) that it was hard for us in the front to even get up and go to the loo. I've noticed a correlation between that and having channel 9 cut off.

Channel 9 is only on the UA fleet

And to elaborate a bit more, for the specific aircraft mentioned in the OP, the A320 is a PMUA plane, so it will have Channel 9. The 739 is a CO aircraft, so it will not.

I flew on a PMUA 763 from IAH to LIM and it had Ch9. Not sure about the whole fleet though.

Flights flown: 277 - Airlines: 40 - Airports: 64 - Next flights: LHR-KEF-BOS-EWR-PBI-TPA/SFB-KEF
