Hello everyone.

I am interested in the schedules of the former long haul services operated from non Tokyo Japanese airports, especially :

Nagoya Komaki
Osaka Itami then Osaka Kansai
Fukuoka
Sapporo Chitose

I already know of the following ones :

Aeroflot : St Petersburg and Moscow to Osaka Kansai ( I have the schedules for these ones)
Air Canada : Vancouver - Nagoya (Komaki then Centrair) and Vancouver Osaka Kansai ( I have the schedules for these ones)
American Airlines : Chicago O'Hare to Nagoya Centrair ( I have the schedules for this one)
British Airways : Nagoya Komaki ( I have the schedules for this one) and Osaka Kansai ( I have the schedules too).
Emirates : Nagoya Centrair ( I have the schedules for this one)
KLM : Amsterdam - Sapporo New Chitose - Nagoya Komaki (flown in 2001 among others, I have the schedules for this one )
Varig - Los Angeles - Nagoya (flown till 2003 ?) ( I have the schedules for this one)
Delta Airlines - Portland to Fukuoka, Nagoya and Osaka. (I have the schedules for these ones) - Los Angeles to Nagoya Centrair ( I have the schedules for this one)
Northwest Airlines : New York JFK - Osaka Kansai ( I have the schedules for this one) Minneapolis St Paul - Osaka Kansai ( I have the schedules too) Los Angeles to Osaka Kansai (I have the schedules too)
Swiss : Zurich - Osaka Kansai ( I have the schedules for this one)

Air France - Nagoya (I don't have the schedule for this one so if someone has it can you let me know please)

If you know of any other long haul flights to Europe, the Americas, Australia / New Zeland or the Middle East from non Tokyo Japanese airports please let me know.

Overall I think these airports have lost a huge number of long haul links in the last 15 years. Quite sad ...

Thanks in advance

IIRC BA also served Fukuoka for a short time: unfortunately my 1994-1999 timetables are buried or I could look it up quickly...

United Airlines flew San Francisco - Nagoya Centrair between March 26, 2005 and October 25, 2008. The schedule was altered at some point (I don't recall when) to where the aircraft did a short turnaround in NGO, but initially it stayed overnight.

The initial schedule was as follows:
UA831 SFO 1155 NGO 1640+1
UA830 NGO 1555 SFO 0825

NZ served NGO from 1994 to 2006 with 763s initially AKL-NAN-NGO then AKL-NGO non stop.

NZ also served FUK from 1995/98 with 763s twice weekly AKL-FUK non stop then AKL-NGO-FUK for the last few months.

QF served NGO from SYD and CNS from what I recall for many years mainly with 747 classics.

NW also flew KIX-SYD as a continuation of the JFK flight. I also seem to remember CO flying NGO-HNL.

Thinking off hand, the following come up.

NH: KIX-FRA (742); KIX-LHR (742)
JL: KIX-LHR (744/772); KIX-CDG (744); KIX-FRA (M11); KIX-ORD (744); KIX-BNE-SYD-KIX (743); NGO-CDG (772); NGO-LHR (M11); NGO-LAX (M11)
AA: DFW-KIX (M11/772)
UA: KIX-ORD (744/777); KIX-LAX (742/744); KIX-HNL (772)
SK: KIX-CPH (763) - note they were to first to start the exodus.
DL: I think DL never flew PDX-KIX though they did apply but the rights were not awarded.
OS: KIX-VIE (343/342/332)
AC: KIX-YYZ (343) seasonal.
NZ: NGO-AKL (763)
VASP flew into KIX with its MD-11s, but I don't know where it stopped off.
South African - KIX-???-JNB. Don't know where it enrouted.
NW: KIX-DTW for a long time it was flown with 744 until merging with DL. I don't believe KIX-JFK was ever flown. I believe it was ITM-JFK for a short time in the early 1990s until KIX opened when they moved the rights to DTW. KIX-SEA (D10) but restored when merged with DL.

I am certainly forgetting more.

It was an SR route, LX never flew scheduled to KIX, apart for a brief period last year during/after the Tsunami period.

That's a nice, comprehensive list. You can strike NGO-DTW from it, though - that route (along with the tag to/from MNL) is still alive and well since merging with DL .

Really hope the new 787s can help UA reinstate SFO-NGO and perhaps launch ORD-KIX and EWR-KIX.

Delta was awarded the rights.

The October 1 1998 timetable shows
DL 99 PDX-KIX effective October 28 1998
DL 98 KIX-PDX effective October 29 1998

DL subsequently cancelled the flights.
They never operated

And the million dollar question -- why have so many longhaul services from these cities failed??

Many of these cities, and regions they serve have very size able populations and economic activity, yet Japan continues to be very Tokyo centric for its long-haul links.

Didn't PX or FJ operate to FUK in the late 70s and/or 80s? Going only off memory so unrealiable!
