What a joke of an article. The criteria for determining Best and Worst are hopelessly flawed, and that's putting it nicely.
There are other extremely important[i] criteria like [i]redemption costs (in miles), fuel surcharge (takes a chunk out of your wallet on some airlines, while not existing on others), and partner carriers (whose inventory is also relevant). And also, an important criteria is ability to earn miles affordably, because you can't burn them without earning them first. WN is absolutely hopeless in this category.

I've been saying this for several years. DL's FF program is a total joke. There just is never any availability. If there is it will be the higher level of redemption. I look at going to UIO; it's 60,000 miles on AA for First Class and 80,000 on DL for Coach, and that is when it's available.
It's the consumer that lets DL get away with this. Maybe people need to start voting with their feet.
AA and AS used to be great, but even then I'm seeing less availability.
Like I've said, people need to start protesting more. Airlines have no problem giving out FF miles for things like buying flowers, but then never seen to really allow them to be used, except on inconvenient routings (try getting any FF seat on DL SEA-NRT for example) or only during mid-week or only at much higher redemption levels.

I agree with the rating for Delta - as for the last 10 years I am trying to redeem my FF miles with them. As noted above if there is a seat available it is always at the highest level. I tried many times even with as many as 12 months ahead of the trip. They just want people to donate their miles or let them expire.

No shocker with DL. I can't remember the last time I had even seen a 25,000 mile ticket available, never mind booked one. I looked to redeem a one way to MSP for August. They wanted 40,000 miles, now if I went round trip it would be the same exact thing. That is an absolute terrible way to treat your FFs IMO.

What people really need to do is get out of the psychological trap all these "loyalty" programs create.
Money saved here and now is a far bigger benefit than being "loyal" for the sake of a dubious reward sometime in the future. I mean look at all those poor souls wasting money and time on "mileage runs".

You do know that Delta Skymiles don't expire right? Also, I've never had a problem finding skymiles reward availability to LAX, LAS, SFO, DFW, ATL, all from JFK. First class is what I use my miles for, but Y is usually available. I never understood the comments about not finding availability. I don't like using miles though, bc I like status, and that only comes from revenue tickets, but it's not that hard finding reward seats

I also have had serious trouble trying to redeem miles on Delta for anything but the most expensive free tickets. I cashed out and have not used them since. I also am now finding out that Lufthansa is very difficult and I keep losing miles because I can't use them for free rewards. Plus the taxes on the free tickets on LH are shocking. I've decided to stick with United. US or American programs as they have been the best for me. I can still use them for free flights on LH or BA.
