Skytrax Question?

Can someone tell me why there always seem to be more passenger reviews about BA than other airlines ?

Take June.

So far there are 66 reviews for BA and only 30 for LH.

Now considering LH is much bigger than BA isn't this a bit strange ?

For Air France there are only 16.

Yes, the Skytrax ratings are rigged....the "stars" are for sale.

You should also expect that an English speaking website would also have more reviews of airlines that have English as their primary language.

I just don't buy that only 30 people wrote a usable review about LH in June compared to 66 for BA ?

Absurd I know which leads me to believe they are far more selective in which reviews they print for some airlines than they are for others ?

I'm sure you'll find more LH reviews than BA on a German language review site.

As to the reviews, Lufthansa isn't that much bigger than BA to be honest (not counting Lufthansa group) and as mentioned above English wouldn't be the first language of many that travel LH.

Its not something that would strike me as being rigged, I just think its a fact BA has a few more reviews than LH. Nothing more to it IMO.

Well, maybe not as their first language...but i can guarantee you that most Germans speak very good english and would not be put off by an English based website. I dont have much faith in Skytrax...

Even of the Germans who are fluent in English, many or even most will not want to bother with an English website when there are German language sites that can provide them with the desired information. They aren't put off by an English website...it is just easier and more comfortable for them to use a German language site.

I agree, many speak good English. I speak good English too, but if there is a Hindi alternative, I tend to use that instead...

Having faith in SkyTrax is a completely different issue - you'd be hard pressed to find someone on A.net who actually pays attention to SkyTrax (apart from Mikey72 it seems).

Oh come on. These are big international carriers and anyway wouldn't that put the English speaking airlines at a huge disadvantage considering what a widely used site Skytrax is ?

One more thing....

What sort of web site publishes a LH review from an economy passenger that recommends the airline after a flight on an old 747-400 with no inflight entertainment and at the same time publishes a BA review from an economy passenger that doesn't recommend the airline after a flight on brand new 777-300 ?

Both airlines scored well for cabin service by the way in these two particular reviews.

English/German whatever.....now that is selective. The person gave BA high points for everything but decided to just not recommend them anyway ?? And Skytrax chose to publish it !

Where do they get these people for the BA reviews ? Lol

The reviews criticize BA, but praise LH, so therefore they must be fixed? Am I following your reasoning correctly?

I log on every now and then and check out the reviews for Ryanair, Cubana and the odd obscure airline just to cheer myself up ! Some of the entries are very funny.

Heard that often here, but I've never seen anyone given any facts.
Skytrax is largest site of it's kind and most read I suppose. It's hard to believe airlines could buy stars in secret, without anything leaking out and ruining the business.

No...lol....I knew that one was coming...both BA and LH rate overall about the same.

But if one airline is under scrutiny twice, thrice or even four times as much as its competitors ?

There is just no explanation for it ?

13 reviews for KL and 66 for BA in the same month ?

KL and AF 'combined' equal only 29 compared to 66 for BA.

Air France-KLM is Europe's largest airline.

Spot on !!! I do not read any positive reviews but only have a good laugh at some of the negative reviews.

Since Skytrax is based in the UK it makes much more sense, that BA gets featured prominently and other European airlines less so. You also have a lot of reviews on Emirates, Etihad etc. as many British travellers use them as well.

You need to read the reviews with a pinch of salt. Some of them are interesting whereas others are just a waste of time. Also I would not believe the star rankings as they are very subjective and often make no sense.
