Hi all,

I was reading some nice trip reports from the past - covering the famous CO / Air Mik - Island Hopper flight from HNL - GUM.

My question, since UA took over CO did anything changed on the flight?

In my plans is to take the flight in October, actually a stunning routing.

CCS-IAH-LAX-HNL-GUM (via all the islands) -NRT-IAH-CCS.

also what off all islands it would make the most sence to stay for a night or would it be better to stay 1 night add in GUM?

thanks and cheers
Avianca

There was never a nonstop flight between ORD and GUM the aircraft routed ORD-HNL-GUM. UA changed flights around a bit and now its simply a connection in HNL.

The non-ER 777-200 now flies to GUM in lieu of the 767-400ER.

If you decide to get off at one place you will have to schedule 2 or 3 days extra, when I flew it last year the service was operated twice weekly on the entire route and once weekly without a stop at Kosrae.

I have done the whole trip in one day with a straight connection to NRT (tight!). If you have enough time I'd suggest to stay a day in GUM, and I am sure one stop in Micronesia or Marshall Islands is a unique experience. I was unfortunately too time constrained last year but will certainly come back to stay a couple of days.

It all depends on what day of travel you selected, couldn't find anything for this month (not sure if anyone else has found something), but found that it operates on Monday's and Fridays in August.

I lived on Majuro for 3 months... it was an incredible time. The Marshallese people are the nicest on earth. Head out to the outer islands on the Majuro Atoll or head out to Laura Beach. Its just a very cool culture.

made yesterday a reservation for October and yes looks like that it is also operating on mondays and fridays in october...
problem will be that its basically impossiblle (cost and time wise) for me to squeeze in a stop on one of the islands... so it looks like the only stop overs on the complete journey will be HNL (for 2 nights) GUM (for 2 nights) and NRT (for 3 nights).

cheers

i did it 3 weeks ago and was an unforgettable flight and very long too.
The 738 was without PTV so even if i was in business it was very very long but i saw incredible islands from the air and the stops where i went down to take a break from the seat were interesting.
I slept at the end in Guam and was a very nice place to visit
