Will be flying first class out to Hawaii this weekend and have the option of either a PMUA 767-300 "GB" or PMCO 757-300. I have not heard great things about United's domestic 767, although it is a wide body, and have always been a fan of Continental's aircraft. Which first class is better for this flight?

Not sure about the 763 however, the 753 will have a normal domestic first class cabin with 24 seats and overhead video monitors. The B753 would not be my choice for a trip to Hawaii in first class, but then again the 763 could be older style cabin from what I've heard.

I would pick the 2-class domestic "Ghetto Bird" B763s that are still being sent to Hawaii. Nothing beats the comfort of a roomy 2-3-2 cabin configuration in my opinion.

The FC cabin on the 767-300ER "Ghetto Bird" is the worst in the combined mainline fleet, IMO. I know a certain someone will likely chime in with the 737-500 or another aircraft for various reasons, but the reality is that the domestic 763 has the narrowest F seat in the fleet, very tight bulkheads and limited overhead space. Plus, UA isn't flying the 735 to Hawaii. I am very happy to see the domestic 763ERs are being converted to the superior-in-every-way international configuration.
The 757-300s are starting to get LiveTV + power (STC in the works) plus have much wider seats, bulkhead cutouts, and larger overheads. I expect the 753s will be early candidates for wifi once it comes to the domestic fleet later this year.
Of course, YMMV, but I would probably go with the 753 unless you are a big fan of widebodies.

Good post, I didn't know the install had started on the 753 as yet. Looks like the birds with power are aircraft that have been reconfigured for Econ Plus. That will have me rescind the earlier comment about 753 not being my selection to Hawaii, the power makes it more appealing to my wants.

Personally I enjoy widebodies. The domestic 767s on UA are basically like any other PMUA airplane with the exception that economy is slightly better with 2-3-2 seating and first class is slightly worse with 2-2-2 seating. The first class seats are a bit narrower. Also they often run out of space for roller suitcases. However I still think the 767 is a comfortable airplane. If you can get on one of the 767-200s or 767-400s to Hawaii then you certainly win because those by far are the best equipment that UA sends to Hawaii.
The PMCO 753s are ok. LiveTV does not work to Hawaii as the signal dies as you get away from California.
If you have never designed an airplane part before, let the real designers do the work!

I don't believe PMCO or now sCO ever put a 762 on a Hawaii trip, just the 764. I love both those aircraft and am sad to see the 762 leaving the fleet.

I would go with the PMUA 763. You may not get another opportunity to fly on one for these routes again. They currently have 2 or 3 ships at HKG getting the mod's as we speak and 6674 is already on the line flying with the new drab PMCO cabins. I like the 753 also as it is sort of a novelty, but I would definitely go with the 763.

Why do you consider the ghetto birds the worst?
The 735s do indeed suck. Zero IFE and low count of F class seats.
