One thing I noticed recently is that quite a few of the airline websites I go to have changed their style from business like classical writing to a more graphic stlye with less words and big lettering.

A few examples:

Before: http://web.archive.org/web/200902200...01/http://www.ryanair.com/site/EN/

After: http://www.ryanair.com/en

British Airways:

Before: http://web.archive.org/web/200902151...l/home/public/en_gb?countrycode=GB

After: http://www.britishairways.com/travel/home/public/en_gb

American Airlines:

Before: http://web.archive.org/web/200906300...0/http://www.aa.com/aa/homePage.do

After: http://www.aa.com/homePage.do?locale=en_US

I'm sure they are not the only ones and I just checked Air France and they have done the same.

So anyway has anyone else noticed this change and do they have any idea what prompted it. Was it just some MBA grad in a management consultants office saying "I know, let make all our websites fonts really big!" and everyone went "Gold Jerry!". Is there any logic behind it? Personally I don't really like the change. For me it might be suited to a charter airline or something but it looks a little too playful for national carriers and stuff. But that's just my personal taste.

Any thoughts welcome.

Many thanks.

P.S. I just had an idea that was this change made so the webstites display better on portable devices and Mobile phones and stuff. That's my only logical guess!
