On June 18th my wife's rolling briefcase disappeared while we were waiting to board UA 37, from EDI to EWR. We both combed the departure area and could not find it. We contacted the lost property office (after returning home, as we had to make the flight) at EDI and were told that they did not have it. We then contacted the Edinburgh police to make a lost/stolen report. Two hours later we received an email from the police that indeed our luggage was at lost property at EDI. Today the luggage returned to us via FedEx and everything was there as packed!
EDI is run by BAA, so the poor customer service is not a surprise. However, we want to say thanks to Constable McGhee of the Border Police for following up on our call and finding the luggage after BAA's staff said it was not in their possession. Always great to see someone who goes the extra mile!

Edinburgh airport is not owned by BAA. It was sold off to GIP earlier this year.
Was the briefcase left unattended at any time? If so, maybe it was spotted and removed as a potential security threat. Anyway, glad it was reunited with you eventually!
