Landed @ BOS around 2:05pm this afternoon and noticed the JAL 787 still at the gate. JAL website showed a 4+ hour delay due to aircraft maintenance? What broke out of curiosity (was it due to the South Carolina 787 engine incident?)

It appears that it went tech, I saw them unloading the bags/cargo after it was towed to North Cargo around 3:30 PM and when I went home at 8:00 PM it was still there. They also had Delta Mechanics looking at it earlier when I took a ride by.

Cables can, on the extremely rare occasion, bind, but they never just "go." Call me old fashioned.

As per JAL's website the flight is delayed 26 hours until 3:00pm tomorrow. Odd that a brand new aircraft would have a systems failure.

Peculiar a DL mech would be looking at a plane which they don't even operate and have deferred for another 8 years

Not really. This aircraft type has only been flying a small amount of time, quirky things are going to pop up. Hell, my airline have had aircraft come in from DELIVERY flights with some things that crapped out while coming over the Atlantic. This is why aircraft and components have a warranty
