Hi there

I'm considering going fro Bangkok to Dubai and Indigo has a pretty cheap flight through MUM, which is only around 100 USD. There is also only a 1H45Min layer, but I suppose that's ok. Do anybody know the following?

1) Will I get boarding passes for both legs in BKK?
2) Will my luggage be checked through so I don't have to pick it up in MUM and check it again?
3) Do I need a visa if I connect in MUM? (I suppose it also depends on #2 if need to pick up my back - then I'd need to go through immigration first).

4) All in all... do you guys think this would go seamless?

Just to clarify. The trip is booked on a single PNR and I have asked Indigo by phone about luggage. They confirmed it can be checked all the way through.

Still wondering with visa though. Flights arrive and depart from the same terminal (#2). I suppose I don't need a visa if I remain in the transit area, but the question is whether that is possible. Anybody knows?

Thx in advance,

EBGflyer

You don't need a visa as long as you're not changing terminals. If you're bags are checked through, you won't have to clear immigration.

TWOV (Transit Without Visa):
Visa required, except for Holders of confirmed onward tickets
for a max. transit [[TIRULES/R32]] time of 24 hours.
- Hotel facilities are available in Terminal 3 at Delhi (DEL),
provided holding boarding card for connecting flight.

But the question is whether my bags will be checked through or not. According to customer service at IndiGo via phone they have confirmed bags will be checked through. However, according to their Terms & Conditions, bags need to be picked up after each leg. I have provided the conditions below. A little confusing to say the least.

10.2 In cases where the Customer undertakes travel on the Connected Segments, at the time of check-in, the Baggage of such connecting Customers will have to be collected at the end of each leg and re-checked again. The Customers will be provided with two boarding cards - one for the flight taken from the point of origin till the point of transit and other from the point of transit until the final destination.

At least I will have boarding passes for both segments, but how will I know whether my bag will go through to DXB?? Speaking with the Indian Embassy, they told me that even if I would have to pick up my bag in BOM, I wouldn't need a visa. I find that hard to believe though as somebody in a different forum have told me bagage claim is after immigration.

Any suggestions?

I dont know about how Indigo does transit but if one is transiting at BOM T2, there is separate security check area before Immigration that one can take to go to the departure. If you avail this, there is no need to clear immigration.
Now because of Indigo regulations one needs to collect the bags, then its definitely after immigration as there is no baggage claim available prior to immigration check and visa may be required to clear immigration. I find it hard to believe that immigration officers will let you through to baggage claim without having valid visa as one can easily walk out of the terminal after collecting bags since there is no one to check immigration status after baggage collection.

OK, I have now checked with a supervisor at customer service and they could confirm from the airport manager and management, that I do NOT need to worry about my luggage in Mumbai. Turns out section 10.2 applys to domestic flights and is not updated with regards to international flights.

They also gave me the number to IndiGo at Mumbai airport and I spoke with the staff and I was told I do not need to pick it up in Mumbai, but I will have need to identify my luggage next to the staircase when boarding for Dubai.
