My travel companion and I are booked in first on a DL 777 from DTW to LAX this month and we have the center seats. From the look of the seat configuration on Airliners.net pics, it look like any interaction between the two of us will be very limited. Can someone shed some light on folks traveling together and what the best seats are? Thanks! T
A bad day on the road is better than a good day in the office.

I rode this airplane to LAX and SYD with a family member. We sat in the center section, row 6 outbound and rode in row 6 and 7 at the window on the return. We actually liked the window seat location better. The herringbone arrangement means the seats are angled away from each other, pointed toward the aisle. We did of course talk but you definitely have to turn in a more pronounced way to talk with each other, and felt that was more of an effort in the center row than at the window. We did like row 6 as it was quiet and very private for the long overnight flight from LAX, but overall preferred seats 6A and 7A on the return SYD-LAX-ATL.
You'll see more of nearby passenger's feet in any of the seats, and the side or backs of heads. Overall, it is not one of my favorite layouts. I've not flown the reverse herringbone yet so no comparison to that arrangement, but I really enjoy the ride on the 777LR and DL service up front, even domestic First Class, is very good.
If 6 and 7 at the window are available, I think those are the best seats in that main cabin. 7A is the best!
