Hello !
I will be flying out to KHI in December, and cannot decide which route to take!
Right now, I have quite a few miles with United, allowing me to get to KHI one-way in Business.
I just can't decide which of the two options I should go with...
Option A:
JFK - > CAI - EgyptAir - B77W - Business
CAI -> DOH - Qatar Airways - B77W - Economy
DOH -> KHI - Qatar Airways - A332 - Business
Problem with this is that, I really want to be in Business the whole way!
Also, I am not sure I will get access to the Premium Terminal, as my arrival into DOH would be in Economy, and Departure in Business.
Option B:
EWR -> IST - United - B763 - BusinessFirst
IST -> DOH - Qatar Airways - A321 - Business
DOH -> KHI - Qatar Airways - A332 - Business
With this, I would have access to the premium terminal, BUT , United Business First.... Don't know how it would compare to EgyptAir's Business Class... I have flown Business on the B764, but not B763.
Anyone have any insight on the BusinessFirst on UA's B763?
Return is already booked as follows (Could have picked direct, just didn't want too)
KHI -> IST - Turkish Airlines - B738 - Business
IST -> LHR - Turkish Airlines - A321 - Business
LHR -> JFK - British Airways - B744 - Club World....

I flew MS Business BKK-PEK a few years ago....not fun. I'd definately go for the UA option. If you are departing in C from DOH, you can ask a FA before you disembark from the plane for you to be allowed to use the front stairs and then get a bus direct to the Premium Terminal with the C pax...you'll need to have your boarding pass ready to prove it though. Otherwise ask in the main terminal for a lift to the P. Terminal.

That’s a tough choice. Egyptair’s brand new 77Ws are quite nice. However that doesn’t cover up the fact Egyptair is a very midpack airline. The service is hit and miss and airport operations in Egypt are not as smooth as you get in Western countries. In general, Egypt is quite similar to Pakistan in that you can expect more of a scrum than an organized line like you’d find in Britain. Airport operations is one area where Egyptair is not a premium airline.
A.net is very critical of US airlines, but with the refurbished product, I personally think that UA is slightly above average. You can get quite dependable service with seats that are comfortable. It’s not a 5 star experience, but it still is a perfectly good experience. You won’t have smiling 21 year old cabin crew taking care of your every need, but you will get a reasonable meal, good frequent flyer program and reasonable on time performance. Did you get the 764 with the new seats? The 763 should be refurbished in the same configuration to IST.
Both airlines offer fully flat business class seats that are comfortable. They are both of the latest generation, and I think they are very comparable. If the connections are good, I’d probably take the UA/QR combo to get business class all the way through. There’s no reason to have to endure a couple of hours in economy in order to pick Egyptair over United. Personally I think anyone telling you that Egyptair is sufficiently better than United to justify flying QR in economy is probably just giving a biased opinion against all things US airlines.
If you have never designed an airplane part before, let the real designers do the work!

I flew MS Business Class CDG-CAI-NRT on 333/77W. I thought they were great - especially considering the cheap price I paid. Sure the food was not great by Business class standards, but the lie flat beds were comfortable. However, as stated above if you are going to get a Y class sector for the privilege maybe not.

I'm sorta kinda more or less in the same boat, having to fly back from CAI to the US soon with at least one connection en route necessary.
What I'll need the most on my way back is sleep, and I have a limited number of carriers to choose from, thanks to corporate contracts. I can choose between Egyptair, United, Lufthansa, Qatar and Air France. I am not too keen on the last two because, comfort aside, they require two connections to my final destination, and I can't imagine Lufthansa would be the better option either (A321). So where might I find the best sleep in the air?
