I'll probably get flamed for this, but I would want the majestic DC-10 to come back. Yes sirree, bring back the mighty Ten with all the latest upgrades & improvements. A 2-man, all-glass cockpit, with 3 GE CF6-80C2 engines (derated to approx 43,000 lbs) a flat tailcone like that on the MD-11 & raked winglets like those on the 764. Okay, go ahead & knock down my dream now.  Wink/being sarcastic Regards.

I would definitely want to see the DC-10 come back in an advanced form, say, the DC-10adv.  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

I would use the PW2042s for engines on say a DC-10-10adv and GE-90-115Bs for a high and hot configured DC-10-15adv. Big thumbs up Of course there would be the obligatory two-man glass cockpit.

My wife is a flight attendant on SAA Historic Flight and they have two DC-4s, one of them the last one ever built. Flying on one of these is an incredible experience and something everyone should try if possible!

I think I may have to go with the -6

Guess which one...

of course, with modern technology (two-man-cockpit etc.) like modern aircraft but with the reliability of the good old DC-10.

2nd place goes to the DC-3. She's undoubtly the world's greatest aircraft. Would be a nice Saab 340/Embraer Brasilia replacement  Smile

3rd goes to the DC-8. Boeing won the race, but the eight seems to be made for eternity. Perhaps a modernized aircraft with the newest generation of CFM - engines (DC-8 super 80?) would have a chance to compete with the A340-200/300.

Don't bring back MD-11 and MD-90. They are like bad sequels of some good aircraft (DC-10 and DC-9/MD-80).

DC9-Adv. New IAE quiet/fuel efficient engines, would give the 717, A318 and the E170/190 something to worry about!
