Hallo back!
Probably you already know, but there will be a possibility to fly LO 787 from WAW to several European ports in Dec. 2012 and Jan. 2013. The list is in posting #112 here: http://lotnictwo.net.pl/263-polskie_...nii_rezerwacje_ceny_rotacje-6.html
One (but serious) correction is that the LHR flights listed will be operated on E95 and not 788 (there were some slot disagreements or something...). All the flights can be booked via www.lot.com
PS. Any idea of 777 flights within Europe? 773 SQ MAN-MUC is one - but anything more? Perhaps UA would be reconsidering something like their LHR-BRU flights?

Add LA704 to the list, LAN Chile's MAD-FRA tag-on, which will switched from A340-300 to B787 early next year. The online schedule says B767-300 instead, which apparently is only because they don't have the 788 loaded into the system.
Oneways will be around 100 EUR as usual.
Also I'm going to add an interesting flight to the list which I will be taking in April, Saudia from MXP to MAD. This is on an A320, not on a widebody so it's not really relevant for this thread, but it is an airline from another continent.
I'm not sure if you can book it individually, I'll be flying this inbound from Jeddah.
Soren
All the things you probably hate about travelling are warm reminders that I'm home

My pleasure. But, in fact, thanks are due to LOT.
There is "correction to correction": the agreements have been achieved, so the WAW-LHR-WAW flights on 787 are now in the booking system (with the dates as on the above-mentioned list).

Should we maybe have a "Widebody/5th freedom intra-Euro flights" thread with a list of those flights? (similar to the great World's Longest Flights thread made every now and then.)

EK plans to upgrade their LCA-MLA-LCA flight to a 777 in 2013. However, I'm not sure of the starting date.

Does anybody know if Uzbekistan Airways have rights to sell tickets GVA-MAD on their A310? That aircraft is high on my hitlist and that route is absolutely perfect for me.

No, they don't.... You could still try SATA on LIS-PDL.

TAROM does OTP-TLV 4x weekly with their A310. Maybe not a perfect route but FYI.

Didn't it used to be one?

I have in the past received fares for this in C, silly money, but yes they could be ticketed.

Better idea, the Azores are beautiful.

I don't see HY schedules GVA-MAD-GVA in any of the usual databases (e.g. Amadeus.net) How did you manage to have the ticket issued?

I didn't, but I could have done. I saw the flight on Amadeus, but a GVA-MAD one way was around £1900 in C. I went to my local travel agent to ask if they could find Y availability, which they couldn't, but said that it was ticketable in C if I wanted to stump up almost two grand. This was around a year ago.
Quoting dc9northwest (Reply 11): Not sure if it ever was a 777... It's an A330 now and I think it will be an A343 for a short period in the winter schedule.

BA have a dedicated shorthaul fleet of 767s, will leave it to a more enthusiastic planner than I to look it up but ARN gets one, OSL sometimes gets one, and MAD, NCE, BCN, ATH are all reliable I think. I have flown on them to most of those destinations. Cyprus is 767 I think. Does Moscow count as short haul?
Don't Swiss Air Lines send an A330-200 to LHR? And KLM the same?
Not Europe but shorthaul into Europe: Air Algerie A330-200 to Paris (and even MRS I think), and sometimes to LHR (or maybe just for the Olympics - but I've definitely seen it at LHR). Tunisair fly their A300-600R into Paris too.
Ooh - there's a shorthaul widebody (and a rare one at that): Monarch A300-600Rs ("AB6") around Europe from London and Manchester.
fly Saha Air 707s daily from Tehran's downtown Mehrabad to Mashhad, Kish Island and Ahwaz
