Hello, I'm planning to book a connecting flight from SIN to DPS, preferably on the 5th freedom KLM flight. I'll be connecting from the Finnair (AY) flight. The outbound flight I'll manage with ease but the inbound KL flight arrives at 23:00 while my AY flight departs at 23:40 so 40 mins of transfer time... for the frequent SIN flyer's, do you think I will be able to catch the flight? Or do I first need to clear security, get my bags or a long walk which makes catching the Finnair flight impossible?
Hope you can help,
Martinair

I would not do it, as they usually start boarding around 30-40mins before the actual departure,
and Singapore can have long ways depending where your gates are located.
I once did a 30min transfer from SQ to SQ, cause the first flight was about 1h delayed.
But as we were a large group the waited for us.
In your case even a 10mins delay would let you miss your connection.
Why not spending the night in SIN and taking the flight back home the next day?
Its a great city full of sights

No, you'll not make this connection.
On 2 tickets;
you need to clear immigration (how about waiting time)
you need to pick up bag and re-check in? (check-in closes 30 minutes before departure)
do security again...
walking to the gate (can be a long walk in SIN)
Do AY and KL use the same terminal at SIN?
How about possible arrival delay? You time will be shorter and you misconnex.
Anyway enough reason not to do it.

If you're on two separate tickets where you have to check in again in SIN I would not recommend it.
I think both airlines use terminal 1 and in SIN security is at the gate. But if you have to collect your bags and re-check them, even tho immigration and baggage collection in SIN is super efficient, 40 min is not enough.

While in Singapore check out the Night Zoo. Also you should stop by the casino. Poor Sheldon Adelson needs the money after he blew $56million supporting republicans who nearly all lost last Tuesday. All he got was one Senator in Nevada who probably would have won anyway.
