Industry professionals are probably going to tell me this is peak season, and I am in agreement with them on this. I'm trying to book WAS (DCA/IAD/BWI) to DAC and getting few if any seats for 12/15 to 3/1 trip +/- days to see my kids. I have adequate *A miles through krisflyer but no redemption seats.

I'm ok to purchase a Y ticket, but the total cost (tickets + taxes + redemption miles) in total has to make sense. Why do the air fare sites show $10K + tickets !

Does anyone have any tips for me? I could try different dates, and different routings (Pacific, Atlantic, round the world) ..

Also, why so little capacity to SIN from Eastern seaboard of the US ?
