Diverting to London, must be serious otherwise it would have turned back to Paris.

Looks like he was turning back to Paris but then decided to go into LHR. Quite odd.

not really odd, i´m sure they send a message to operations and they were told to divert to LHR, so my guess is a technical fault, in London they have access to BA maintenance and more flights to rebook pax with AA or even BA should they need to do.

Not odd at all AA with partner BA have extensive mx capabilities at LHR that are not available to them in Paris.

If its medical critically Heathrow NHS feeder hospital and on airport ambulance service may also be nearer in time than a Paris return.

What's wrong with AF maintenance?

Nothing, of course. It's not a question of quality. AA probably has easier/cheaper access to spare parts at LHR.

AA has a much larger ops base in LHR and being partners with BA it is probably much easier for them to get issues done in LHR. Also no 767s in AF's fleet.

AA doesn't need BA maintenance at LHR, they have a sizeable team of their own. Same goes for passenger services which is why LHR is the preferred diversion airport for all European flights.

If it was a maintenance issue they have the best chance by far of either fixing the problem, or swapping the aircraft, if they send it to LHR

So long 701, it was nice knowing you.
