Will The TSA Be On High Alert This Friday?

Considering that this Friday is the supposed "end of the world" promoted by many, does anyone think the TSA will be on high alert this Friday? It seems that those who promote the idea actually want the world to end, and it would not be too surprising that the TSA would especially be on the lookout for suspicious activity from those who promote it on December 21. I am travelling to SJU on that day, and would like to know if we should make some extra preparations to go through security.

I highly doubt the TSA will be on any sort of alert for a bogus, non-event. Now, if they have information of some kind of real attack threat then that might well be different. In the meantime just prepare to travel on a very busy travel day, a few extra minutes would probably be a good idea.

Regardless of the end of the world, lots of inexperienced travellers flying at this time of year, so lines at TSA checkpoints are often hellishly long. It really isn't that hard to take your shoes off, but I digress..

Some people will think Friday is the "end of the world", probably because they got stuck in a middle seat for their 2 hour flight.

Well I hope they will be more alert than they were today - I forgot to take out my "liquids bag" from my carry-on and it went right through the x-ray machine and nobody said anything!

That seems to be the norm for me lately too (both forgetting to take out my liquids bag & TSA not caring...)

Was there some rule-making that I missed or have they just learned to tell sizes by sight? Cool either way

If you're stuck in traffic, it will feel like the end of the world.

I go through a TSA checkpoint 4 to 6 times per week and can't remember the last time I took my liquids out of my bag. My sense is that they can a) tell they're in the baggie and b) tell what size they are.

President Obama removed TSA Alerts. A very stupid idea, where airports are always ORANGE.

Stopped taking my liquids out of my carry on years ago. Heck, I hardly ever use a plastic baggie anymore. I've come to a conclusion that they either don't care, or can see the bottle through the machine.

+1. I just take my whole bag out. It only comes out at Phoenix and SNA. Everywhere else, it stays in the bag and I've rarely had trouble with it. Those two airports seem to be sticklers. Not sure why.

The airports have certainly got more sales since the liquid ban? In EU they still enforce it quite hard IMO, but we don't have to scan the body or take off our shoes   That would be schengen flights I guess?

It always hits me when going from the airport to a central train station, one place has mega high security the other place is just as it always has been. There are probably more people in a train station..

No problem unless you mixed it with beer.

I recommnd putting each bottle in a plastic bag. That way, however much the bag or suitcase is squished, any spillage from the bottle will remain in the bag. It has saved me some trouble every now and then.

Really? I have carried beer bottles across the Atlantic many times (both directions) and I never had one pop.
