Can anyone recommend a good hotel at or close to FRA (if not at FRA, one with a shuttle service to/from the airport).

Thanks!

If it is just for a quick overnight, you may want to check out the town of Kelsterbach. Just a few minutes away from the airport, there is a bunch of hotels there that offer shuttles to the airport. More affordable than hotels directly at the airport.

You cant beat the convenience of the Sheraton -- connected via walkway to the terminal.

Off the top of my head:

Sheraton right across the street from terminal 1
Hilton in "The Squaire" above the long-distance train station
Park Inn and Meininger (budget hotel/hostel combo) in Gateway Gardens, within walking distance from terminal 2
Steigenberger right next to Gateway Gardens

Apart from

Kelsterbach

you may be able to find something in e.g. Neu-Isenburg. They probably won't have shuttles because there are direct public bus services (€2,70 per trip) to/from the airport.

All has been said.
If you have a little time and you want to have a nice dinner or visit the city you should consider staying at Frankfurt City, near the main station. It is very fast, easy and cheap to get from Frankfurt Airport to Frankfurt Main-Station by S-Bahn (suburban railway).

Oh, I know a great place.

The Achat Hotel, located in Langen, just a few minutes from the airport, is a hotel that I can recommend to everybody. Great Staff, GREAT ROOMS!, Great food, and great location. Everything you need for a comfortable stay in the FRA area.
Achat has a shuttle to the airport.

I highly recommend this place!

The Hilton Garden Inn is also located within walking distance opposite the terminal. Convenient and "cheaper" than the Hilton.

I stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn recently when I had an overnight before an early flight. More affordable than Hilton or Sheraton and very convenient.

Some complained on various sites about finding the property. Just follow signs for long distance trains, then signs for Hilton. Several places nearby to find food and you can always stop in the supermarket in the terminal (C) for items.

There is now a second supermarket at FRA; not that I'd advise against the Tegut in T1C, but for some, the Rewe above the long-distance train station may be more convenient.

There are several hotels nearby who have a shuttle service and are cheaper than the Hilton or the Sheraton.

Motel1 Niederrad. Shuttle is €6, takes about 10-15 mins by bus.

Ibis Kelsterbach has a shuttle service as well, no clue how much it is though

Mercure Wings hotel, the one I am staying most. Pretty cheap usually and shuttle service

NH Hotel Kelsterbach or NH Hotel Raunheim or NH Hotel Niederrad all with shuttle service

When I stayed there for a night, must have been in 2010 or so, it was free. IIRC, there were two or three Accor hotels in Kelsterbach and the shuttle served all of them, not just the Ibis.

I think it is still for free, but I am not 100% sure and I don't want to give out wrong information

Kelsterbach has several hotels, but due to the new runway 25R/ 07L it got louder in kelsterbach

It's still free AFAIK and the shuttle does stop at one other hotel. I've stayed at the IBIS Kelsterbach twice and will definitely use it next time I have to overnight at FRA.

The NH is a good place for spotters and a.nutters, don't remeber the name of that Hotel Im Taubengrund right nunderneath the approach lights. It's only a "whoooosh" every 2 to 6 minutes, nothing that should deter an aviation lover.

Recommendable also the Intercity Hotel which was the former US Airbase Hotel, on the southerns side of the airport.
Flying Typers recommends the breakfast buffet as the world's best and the guy comes around. Also good for an evening walk and watching the inbounds

There are a few places in Walldorf as well. I used the Airport Hotel Walldorf a few years ago, shuttle on request and it was a pretty good value.

They are free. I stay in Kelsterbach at least at least every six months and get really good deals on the accor hotels there.
For me it is usually a late night arrival and then morning departure and it is very easy with the free shuttle.

The walking distance hotels are nice but very expensive. If I have a long time in FRA then I'll go into town.

As luck would have it, I've just spent an unexpected night (from Thursday to Friday) in a decent hotel in Neu-Isenburg. It's called "Friendly City Hotel", has a bus stop with direct service to FRA T1 right in front of it and my room was quite spacious, even by US standards. Breakfast was nice and since I had a room with a view towards the approach into the 25s at FRA, I could even watch SP-LRA coming in through the low clouds. It didn't appear to be an expensive place, but I had nothing to do with the booking or payment, so I can't say.

I have thought about it last year... I want to stay at the hotel near Frankfurt downtown (for one night) so that i can spend lots of time walking around the downtown. I am wondering whether you know about which hotel that offers free shuttle from the hotel (near downtown) to the airport.

Don't worry about a shuttle. The train or S-bahn is so easy to use and very frequent. I booked a place just two blocks from the central train station last January and it was just great.

@ aloges - € 100,00 for the upcoming night, € 82,00 if you stay the night of Jan 31.

reasonable for FRA region and the closeness to the airport, wiht public transport right at the doorstep.
