In North America, I just read some more fine print on UA.com that I never noticed before, that all flights in the US (not 3 class aircraft) have First and Y, and other places in North America (and Asia) are Business. I am flying from DEN-YYZ this week, and at first thought the difference was because it was Express.

I have flown Business on 3-class 777 domestically, and I'm sure there was some difference to the food in addition to the obvious difference in Hard Product, but what are the diffferences between First and Business when the Hard Product is the same? e.g. 738 flying from DEN-IAD vs DEN-YVR.

I try to understand from the descriptions online, but their website is vague, and just says things like "Gourmet" dining, etc.

I don't think there is any difference at all.

AA does (has done) this kind of thing too. Seat 5A on a 757 is considered "First Class" on a domestic run, but when that same plane flies MIA-SDQ for example, Seat 5A is "Business Class" - I think it's just all about marketing.

Totally all just marketing in this case. DL does same thing on intl narrow body flights.

On my last Dom F class CR7 flight, we got the Hot Towel service, which I was impressed by. I didn't even know they had an oven to heat them. Then we got on a longer flight on a 739 and no hot towel. Also on the same route one time they gave us the snack box on Express that is supposedly for flights over 700 miles, and the other time on that route mainline, we got snacks from the basket. The services are so inconsistant.

Also, do those evening cheese and cracker plates still exist? The last flight I had at night also had the snack basket. Not much difference in food, but less elegant.

Last I knew the Skywest CRJ7's do not have ovens, your hot towel came from water heated in the coffee pot and poured on the towels as is the case on most other flights that offer hot towels.
