I am planning a trip to Bangladesh in March this year to try and fly on one of Biman's DC-10s, one of the last pax DC-10s flying if not the last. I have looked through their schedules on flightstats.com but find it hard to find a route the DC-10 is scheduled on and therefore a flight to book on. I have seen photos and trip reports of BG DC-10s in AUH, SIN, HKG and KTM but none seem to be actually scheduled.
Which routes am I most likely to be able to catch a DC-10 on. Would be quite happy to fly on a A310 as an alternative but that is not the plan.

I flew S2-ACO from AUH to DAC last July. Back then, the flight was frequently operated by 77W, 313 and their now gone 744 (TF-AMY) as well. Right now, AUH (only 2 times operated by 313 in the past month) and HKG seem to be your safest bets.
SIN is normally operated by 73H and KTM by their entire fleet (except for 77W).
If you decide to fly Biman, be prepared for high delays!

Looks like quite a few old jet fans are looking at the weekend of March 1-3 to fly Biman from Abu Dhabi to Dhaka and back. Easily bookable on the airline's website which shows type and even offers alternatives via Chittagong if you want to squeeze in a quick A310 for no additional cost. There are also some DC-10s to DXB which is new for 2013.
Traditional DC-10 routes that op'd in 2012 don't seem to have returned in 2013 - KTM (737 and A310) and HKG (no flights).

Flew S2-ACP three weeks ago on the sector DAC-CGP. First flight ok (though still with a 30 min technical delay), second flight back to Dhaka S2-ACP went AOG and we were rebooked onto their 738. My recommendation: book at least two sectors and bring plenty of time buffer.
The routes they operated in December 2012 were DAC-CGP-AUH return and DAC-CGP-JED return. As mentioned HKG is also a safe DC-10 route since many years.
Quoting Fallap (Reply 3): How long will Biman keep their DC10's in service? I may first get a chance to fly with them, in 2014.
The pilots told me end of 2013 when they receive two more 773s. Besides ACP I beliewe ACO was operating, whereas ACR was just out of maintenance and on standby.

In April last year I booked CCU-DAC and DAC-KTM.
CCU-DAC was a 310 when I booked, but a DC10 turned up at the gate. At check in I was told it was "the Airbus".
DAC-KTM was a DC10 when I booked, changed to a 737, then had a 310 at the gate. So, it worked out for me, but only by chance.
Both flights were delayed. CCU-DAC for no apparent reason (we boarded on time, then sat on the tarmac). DAC-KTM as the flight crew were stuck in traffic (when all the cabin crew and pax were at the airport and onboard in time).
Bascially, BG is a bit of a mess, but the crew are helpful. Both flights had a reasonable meal service (149 and 411 miles respectively). If you get a longer flight, there is a good chance of getting a cockpit visit.

There's always the chance of an equipment swap with BG, but AUH-CGP-DAC or AUH-ZYL-DAC is usually a DC-10 and is scheduled as such in March. You can book through their website, which also shows the equipment type. 2 take-offs and landings too, of course!
There is also flight BG52 on a Friday which operates DOH-DXB-ZYL-DAC and is shown as a DC-10 in March, if 2 take-offs and landings isn't enough for you!
DAC-HKG operates on a Monday and is also scheduled for a DC-10. There is also JED, but I wouldn't reccommend transferring there if you can avoid it.
KUL, KWI, MCT, CCU and KTM are showing A313/B738 in March at the moment.
Let me know what you plan - it would be good to catch up with you if you happen to come through AUH/DXB.
