Hello a.netters, I'm flying to Europe next week and I need some advice about CDG.
I'll arrive at CDG from GIG at 14:00 with TAM (T1) and my flight to BCN will depart from T2F (Air France) at 19:00. What should I do in 5 hours? Is there any place that I can spot the tarmac or the runways? Any good place to eat?
On my way back to GIG, I'll arrive in CDG at 9:00 and my flight will depart at 20:00. I'm planning to take the RER and have a walk at Champs-Élysées, eat a great Croque Monsieur and go back to the airport around 16:30. Is there enough time? How long does it take to CDG at rush hour?

You'll have plenty of time. It takes around 40 min from CDG to downtown Paris (and vice-versa) with the RER.
Make sure you get the correct train when you return to the airport. The trains to destination Mitry/Claye are on the same line as the ones which go to CDG.

May be to late now but...For the 5 hour layover you are a bit stuck. CDG groundside is not the best for anything and 2F airside is not either. Maybe someone more local has special tips.
For the long day, do you like walking? Take the RER to Chatelet-Les Halles, walk out to La Defense (10 k), go up to the Grande Arche and then take the metro or RER back to Chatelet. You will go by a lot of famous places and good views.

Last time when i was in CDG, i took the Air France Bus Service (http://www.lescarsairfrance.com/en.html)
A very good service with free bangages handlers at every stop.
The trip to Champs-Élysées take around 45 min.
My return flight was at 2035 from CDG to GVA, i took the Air France bus from Champs-Élysées at 1815 and arrived at 1905 to CDG Terminal 2F

That too far! I like walking but not that much! I will probably go to Rue du Commerce, then say hello to the Eifel Tower and walk around Champs-Élysées!

Do you think the Air France bus is a better option than RER?
I guess leaving Champs-Élysées between 16:30 and 17:00 seems enough.

I think the Air France Bus service is more comfortable service and you enjoy the view while traveling compared to the other side the crowded RER service.
On a sunday evening we were only 10 pax on a 40-50 pax bus and it was the same story on the back trip on Monday evening.
