I have been to MLE once with EK, but not on standby, we got cheap tickets, so we bought these as I have heard flights can be quite full, depending on season.
Our flights to and from MLE were both pretty full, but not 100%. So we could've made it with standby tickets.
We took the 3am flight to MLE and the 11pm flight back from MLE to DXB.
