I live here (SXM).
I love to see the pictures some of the spotters took.
I'm new to this Plane Spotting Phenomenon and I guess I'm living and working in the right place for it.
I would love to go to the other places and see and spot some planes one of these years...
I would also agree it's a great place to come and spot, you got one of Travel Channel top beach bar on one side (Sunset Beach Bar & Grill), you have another bar on the other side, there's also Karakter (Bar/Restaurant) Places to rest your head and watch planes (Kinda pricey in that area) and you got the beach (Make sure to come when the sand is there, yes it comes and it goes).

Quoting DFWHeavy (Reply 4): We like good beaches, good restaurants/bars in the evening.
Why not?
I have had one of my best beach food at St.Marteen, ceviche, great sushi, great bottle of Rosato and an awesome cup of cappuchino right at the beach.
None of that burgers, fries, beer routine we are all used to.
Warning; it can get pricey, in euros.

There is plenty to do after spending the day at the wonderful beaches (Cupecoy was a favorite). Don't forget you have French and Dutch sharing the island so the food is outstanding not to mention the fresh seafood we had at an outdoor place in Marigot. It's a magical spot and a place I cannot return to soon enough.

I visited St. Maarten and Maho Beach back in November while on a cruise stop over. My fiance and I loved the island so much we booked our honeymoon trip to St.Maarten when we returned from the cruise. We are looking forward to exploring both sides (and Maho) for 7 days.
