With the snowstorm in YYZ on Feb. 8, many flights were delayed or canx. For the AC31 flight from YYZ-PEK, it appeared that it tookoff around 6pm. Looking at Flightaware, it appears the airplane went up to Northern Canada and diverted back to YEG at around 2300 Feb. 8. It then took off around 1530 Feb. 9 from YEG-PEK.
Does anyone know why the flight was diverted to YEG?
They must have been airborne about 8 hours before landing in YEG, and YEG-PEK is 4,641 nm, another 11 hours or so plus the ground time in YEG to offload the medical emergency and refuel. Far too long for one crew.
