Do I Have Enough Time To Go Into Frankfurt?

I'm considering an itinerary that gets into FRA about 9:30 AM and then departs again at 4:35 PM. Do I have enough time to go into town, walk around for a bit, enjoy a cafe, etc before heading back to the airport?

Our luggage will be checked through so I won't need to reclaim that. All we would have is our carry-ons.

Looking for people who have considerably more knowledge than I do about the airport and city.

Yes plenty of time.

I have actually done business meetings with similar schedules.

The subway (S-Bahn) takes under 15-minutes into the city center. You can take it to central station (Hauptbahnhof), get out walk around (river, financial district etc), have lunch etc.. Plenty of time.

p.s. - keep in mind if its a Sunday most things will be closed.

well, only the shops will be closed, but cafes, restaurants, sights, museums are generally open on Sundays. it's definitely worth to go downtown and discover the old-town area as well as the riverfront.

Sounds great. I'm actually considering changing my departure from Saturday to Friday so that more things will be open on a Saturday arrival.

Thanks for the helpful tips. If my lady can get Friday off, I'm going to change our award tickets.

Only word of caution is be mindful around the Hauptbahnhof and some side streets.
Its a bit seedier part of town with vagrants and crimes like pick pocketing do occur.

Certainly lots of time I have done it with 5-6 hour transits many times. Changing to a Saturday will be better. Lots of things to see you can always head to the main train station then jump onto the S Bahn to Dom/Romer :

No issues with safety either as with any other large city be street wise but I have never had a problem in Frankfurt day or night.
