Update On Global Entry Interview In Houston

So as many of you know, I flew down to Houston yesterday to complete the Global Entry Interview.

Just a little update.

It is VERY convenient and a very nice experience down there.

We flew in and the Global Entry office is inside security. It is about 30 feet right of the Ruby's Diner in Terminal E. This is good news as some on here had mentioned I would have to leave security and go to the International Arrivals hall.

This is no longer the case so if you are considering flying somewhere to complete the interview, IAH is definitely a great place to do it.

Thanks to everyone who pitched in and gave me information on the whole process.

If you have any questions, please let me know.

Equally easy and pleasant experience with the professional and personable staff in MCO. Processed and through within 20 minutes of my appointment time.
First test was in ATL Terminal F. A breeze, but accompanying family members met me in less than 10 minutes anyway at baggage claim/re-check so super efficient there but no advantage in that example over the "everyone else" process.
Next test will be in HNL from GUM and NRT, and in LAX from SYD.

watch what you want. you may get it.

WOW, they moved it to a more convenient spot for those inside security good job CBP. However; locals who drive in I hope the office where I did my interview is still outside security.

Glad your trip went well, where did you eat?

Sounds like a good project. I just hope that they keep the standards high, and have a rigorous random sampling program.

Yes, it is great that those flying in can have this done Inside Security.

They do still have the office outside of security as well near the international arrivals hall! A lady came in while we were there and the Officer/Interviewer directed her downstairs outside of security since she had come to the wrong office. Having an office both inside and outside of security is a win win.

Afterwards, we went to Pappadeuxs and had salad and gumbo   We finished off with about 30 minutes in the Terminal E Lounge before truckin' back over to Terminal B for our flight home. Great day overall. All flights left and arrived early. Everything went according to my plan.

Glad to hear as I know you were most curious about the day trip. Now if all goes as well in Europe you're set!!!!

Global Entry is similar in operation I believe to the SmartGate program in Australia. A clearance and pre-screen for low risk passengers done by the U.S. Customs and Border Patrol. IMHO as the best U.S. government program EVER!

Take a look at it:
