Dear fellow airliners.net members

I am newbie on this forum but i have been following airliners.net since 1999 i think. I have created this account today for asking your help with my dissertation/thesis survey. I have in advance asked for permission from moderators to post this survey. I would be really thankful to all of you if you can please fill out this survey as you guys are the best source and with a lot of aviation knowledge. I intend to keep survey online for 2 weeks. After this to compensate for your time and help i am going to do a prize draw for all the participants for an amazon electronic gift certificate in local currency of the participant. Topic is limited to European routes, airlines and users.

The topic is "Measuring customer satisfaction & service quality in airlines".

Survey has 14 questions out of which 12 are multiple choice and 2 are open end questions.

Please start the survey by opening this link:
http://obsurvey.com/S2.aspx?id=1f7e0cba-7840-4a9d-8279-07615d0bf20b

Survey is anonymous but i would like you to post your username/name and saying completed in reply to this post after you have completed the survey. Like this i will be able to enter your name in the draw.

I would also take this opportunity to say HELLO to everyone and thank you for your kind help  .

Kind Regards
Atir

Welcome and Good Luck with your dissertation!

I've only been to Europe once on BA so I wouldn't be good data. Too bad my thesis relates to major depressive disorder or else Airliners.net would be a great place for convenient sampling.

I'm a Taiwanese-American living in NYC and LA.

A couple of thoughts:

You might consider a skip logic initial screening question to remove potential respondents that don't meet your intended participant criteria (travel in europe). While I live in NYC, I have traveled quite a bit in Europe this past 12 months so I replied.

Question 10 is a double barreled question. You are requesting one answer to two difference questions (1 - searching, 2 - buying). It is possible for individuals to use one source for searching and another for buying (happens frequently with ITA, Kayak, Hipmunk, etc.).

Gender question - not everyone falls into the gender binary (F/M). Some by self-identity, some by biology.

Age - could also contain a logic element - if your plan is to exclude those under 20, have the option but if chosen would direct to a disqualification page.

It appears to be configured to note IP addresses to prevent multiple replies from a single computer. This may limit responses from users in share computer environments.

Forgive me if I am being too specific. I teach research methods courses for graduate students and conduct a good amount of research myself.

Just completed.

I think your income ranges are a bit narrow.

Your airline choice is very narrow. I understand you are from Europe, but many people here are international travelers and you completely ignore the 4 largest airlines in the world based on passenger count.

Thank you for completing survey and even a bigger thank you for giving some feedback  .

For now i want everyone to fill out the survey as i want to take different views from different angles and i do have a the option of disregarding information which is irrelevant to study after the survey has been completed.

Age im not sure how many members here are under 20 and how many of them fly frequently thats the reason i did not have that option.

Gender is important for me as i am comparing male and female passengers and their views on service quality. As there are many female business travellers who are often ignored or put onto low priority by airlines. Till now no female has filled out the survey LOL.

About question 10 thank you for pointing it out and i will be rectifying that

IP address thing im not sure so do you think i should turn it off? i didnt even know there was such a feature on survey to be honest.

And to ALL MEMBERS who have filled out the survey till now THANK YOU SOO MUCH!! you have no idea how much your help means to me and im more than thankful to you all.

Kind Regards
Atir

Thanks for the feedback. I understand that the top biggest airlines are from the north american region but im restricted by my word count so i cant have 4 big american airlines. Thats why i had to narrow it down to european region only. I have only 11000 words to play with which to be honest is not a lot  .

About pay scale you reckon it should be more? i just chose these brackets as these are the average brackets for UK.

thanks for completing survey  .

Quoting TurkishWings (Reply 13):

I do have to agree i completely missed turkish. But rest i chose on the basis of popularity and frequency of use. Thanks

Most online survey tools offer an option to prevent repeat responses from the same computer, facilitated either by cookies or by IP tracking. This can be helpful if a researcher is concerned about someone repeatedly completing a survey.

I work at a University and we disable this feature because many students complete surveys from computer labs and thus more than one person might try to do the survey from the same machine. Instead I use alternate methods to prevent repeat survey entries.

Happy to talk more about it if needed.

BTW - changing questions after data collection has started is never recommended in survey research
