Does anyone have any idea about what approach is being used at CPH tonight? I saw an aircraft coming in somewhere I've never seen before. I live right by the water and they were coming in from the northwest, right across the centre of Amager. I have to assume they're landing on runway 12? I've lived here for 4 years and I've never once seen aircraft approaching from there. I was honest-to-god concerned for a crash. I just saw an aircraft ridiculously low and disappear over the top of the apartments but I now see the whole approach line heading for that location. I'm curious as to why they're coming in this way and if they're actually landing on runway 12 or doing something else after they disappear from my view?

They're probably landing on 12 because of the (annoying as hell) winds we've been having all day.
In fact, looking at the METAR, they're definantly landing on 12 today. Those gusting winds are at a 90 degree angle to the main runways and probably above what most airlines will accept.

it is all about the direction of the heavy wind. It is not normal, but I can hear it over my apartment maybe 4 to 7 a year.
I think that if they landed as "normal" they would have very strong side wind.
It is not dangerous, but it looks and sound like they are very close to the high buildings.

Thanks for all the information guys. I assumed it would be wind related but it's awesome to see them coming in from that direction. Must be even better further down Amager.
