EK 201 DXB-JFK A388 Medical Diversion AMS

Tuesday 19 March 2013, EK201 from DXB to JFK made an air interruption over Denmark for a medical diversion to AMS.

Anyone know a reason why CPH, GOT, and OSL missed out, here.

Is it just that these airports are not regular EK A388 stations while AMS is.

I thought several Scandinavian airports had been selected by EK for diversions, or are those purely for emergencies.

Your thoughts?

AMS airport:
- arr. 14:10 Dubai EK 201 / Airbus A380 / A6-EDM
- dep. 16.20 New York JFK EK201 / Airbus A380 / A6-EDM

With an airplane like that it is always easier to pick an airport where an A380 flies into regularly. So the handling is a lot easier and AMS is such an airport.

I am pretty sure they were too heavy anyway to land right away, they had to dump fuel and they maybe could do it on their way to AMS instead of doing an overweight landing in OSL, CPH or GOT.
