I can live with the delays, and a 24 hour layover sounds like a good idea.
According to this http://www.webcitation.org/6H9wZ22eF Biman will phase out it's last two DC10-30's in november this year, and when I look at the booking-page. It does say DC-10-30. So fingers crossed I guess. I was just curious if anyone had other sources saying different?
Edit: I just tried to book (not final booking of course) of a Abu Dhabi - Dhaka flight in early january 2014, and the site then confirmed the aircraft to be a "777"

I've done the BG DC-10 half a dozen times - mostly from / to AUH but also DXB on Fridays and once KTM-DOH. Never been delayed more than a few minutes here and there, they have a horrible reputation but the 80s were a long time ago. Just the other day in SIN I saw their 737 to DAC push right on time. DAC has live arrivals and departures info so you can get a good sense of their overall reliability on a daily basis, plus what you can expect to see from the roof terrace of the Regency Hotel (fabbo four star property near the airport, I presume that's where you're staying? just don't book the cheapest grade rooms, they don't have windows!).
Biman allow cockpit visits inc landings if you're a DC-10 fan who asks nicely. Introduce yourself to the pilots in the AUH terminal if you see them (T2's very small) and maybe bring gifts like a handful of McDD keyrings off eBay or something else av-themed (stack of Aviation News or Airliner World).
Biman is a very special airline and you will have a fantastic time. Tell us how you get on!

I have done the Biman DC-10s a few times as well (a couple of times with Mr CedarJet too!) and have had good experiences every time.
S2-ACP and ACR are both active and still operate the majority of the AUH flights. Since I live next to AUH airport, I really should do one more DC-10 jaunt while it is still possible. Hopefully I'll also manage it this summer.
I don't plan to stay at the Regency Hotel though, I'm trying to find a place in town. My plan is to take a train to Chittagong, and perhaps take a domestic flight back on the A310
McDD keyrings off eBay or Aviation Magazines? It wouldn't be awkward approaching the pilots and handing them out hehe?
But I'll definitely try and ask. When I landed in Cusco in Peru after flying on the 737-200, I asked politely to visit the cockpit upon disembarking, and they allowed me to take a peak in and say hello to the pilots. So hopefully I'll get a chance to sit in the jump-seat this time!
