United flight 70 from LAX to IAH was listed as delayed, but was just changed to cancelled around 11:00am Pacific. Equipment is 787-8, N45905. I guess this would only be an event worthy of discussion due to the aircraft type. United's website indicated it was delayed for aircraft maintenance, but now just lists cancelled. Well, it sounds about par for the course: go somewhere and break. Apply MEL/CDL if able, fix if unable, then fly it home... and break. Board the plane with maintenance onboard, make people sit around, leave two hours late.
Just a day in the life of a UA 787, in my personal experience.

N27901 also went tech this morning and was swapped over to N26906 with a 2.5 hour delay.
And N26906 diverted to Austin last night. Not a great 24 hours for the UAL 787s...

Just kidding. Ship 154 had a broken PTV monitor in seat 5L up to the very end.
I'm not surprised by that; certainly any airline that's retiring aircraft isn't going to spend any more money than necessary on them. Nonetheless, the 762s filled in relatively well (along with reassigning 777s) while the 787s were grounded.
When I read that the 762s were being rushed off to storage, I knew it was too soon. By hey, that's just me - a product of decades of flight ops experience. What could any one like me know that a MBA doesn't know, too?
