I live in harlow and heard a plane that did not sound right I looked up and see it was a BA 744 with its landing gear down, this was around 45-50 minutes ago. This must be same one you have mentioned here

Do you think it is going to return to LHR or could it go to LGW or STN

They only fly over harlow when outbound not inbound at LHR so I douht I will see this again, the sound its engines made caused me to look up as I could hear it was odd. Harlow is also the fligut path for STN approach at around level 3000 so I hear planes all day but this sound was strange plus gear was down.

Currently on approach to LHR - routed on a relatively roundabout route over Central London, so hopefully not too serious. Didn't have to spend any time in a stack, unsurprisingly.

Landed safely, yet only a minor technical fault declared - according to the BBC.

Fault with left main gear, which would not retract

The BA Source is reporting that the aircraft had been in maintenance since July 29th and had just returned to service operating this flight! Coincidence or connected?
