Flying on a biz trip on this route late August. How has the service been since it reopened? Equipment in 767-300, would've rather it been a 777

Being SFO (too west geographically so limited connections) and CDG (rival alliance hub), the route would probably be 2-class 763 or no route at all. Previously the equipments were 777 (too big) or 3-class 763 (limited F), so IPTE 2-class 763 is a good fit. I'd imagine it'll switch to 787 eventually.

I applaud UA for attempting the route instead of retreating to boring but safe territory of intra-alliance hub-to-hub.

Yes it is a two class with PTV in every seat. Since AF has same departing flight on a 777 and a late one believer 9:30 PM, I wonder how the loads are on this UA flight.

If you are pressed for time I suggest taking the AF 777 flight. The 763 cruises slower than the 777 which makes the AF 777 30 minutes faster than the UA 763.

That's not a whole lot of difference on a flight that long - someone who cares about timing is more likely to choose based on when they need to arrive or leave. With the current schedule, the UA flight is better for people who need to be in Paris earlier, and the AF flight is better for people who need to be in SFO later.

You rather take a UA 777 with 2-4-2 seats in biz, versus 2-1-2 on the 763?

I wish I wa traveling in biz class, otherwise I would not care what type of aircraft. Only reason flying UA is to add to my miles. I could use my Delta skymiles on AF, but my total will only be the return trip.

The AF 777 will be a little faster. A little under 30 minutes faster, which may or may not make a difference. The big difference is SFO-NRT with the DL 767 going up against a UA 747. The 747 typically flies that route about 50 minutes faster than the 767 which is noticeable as a passenger. As far as speed goes, the 777 isn't as fast as a 747, but still faster than the 767.

If you have never designed an airplane part before, let the real designers do the work!
