Happy New Year everyone,
I have just booked a trip from Calgary to Miami with a connection in Seattle. I'm arriving into SEA in Horizon at 19.55 and then changing planes to American's SEA - MIA nonstop redeye which leaves at 21.25.
For anyone with experience in SEA connections, would you say 90 minutes transfer time is more than enough, considering that I have to go through immigration and customs?

The US immigration and customs pre-clearance at Canadian airports is news for me, and I think that's just terrific. Great idea to allow for such procedures, and that definitely allows me to be more relaxed about the connection.

You will arrive into the C concourse (most likely) and be departing from the D concourse. It should be relatively easy for a connection. You don't need to even leave security in SEA. I would highly recommend checking in for your AA flight before leaving YYC and having your boarding pass either on your mobile phone or printed. If you end up at the N gates, it is a short train ride (2nd stop) and make sure you head to D and not baggage claim. AS should through check any baggage for you to MIA.
Give a little extra time in YYC for immigration. It can take a few extra minutes if you aren't a citizen of the United States or Canada. It might only be a Q400 flight, but make sure you arrive at least 90 minutes early.
If you have never designed an airplane part before, let the real designers do the work!

After checking in for your flight, you go through US passport control prior to security screening. After security, you will be in a secure area of the airport where the gates are used exclusively for departures to the USA. It's a nice system that generally makes things more efficient for the airlines, for passengers, and for US CBP. My experience (as a US citizen) is that entering the US via Canadian pre-clearance ports is pretty easy. I've heard many people on this board and elsewhere say that flying from Europe to the US via YYZ or other Canadian airports is easier that making the same connection at American ports like JFK or ORD. Certain Canadian airports allow you to bypass Canadian immigration and go straight to the USA pre-clearance area. I've only done it once--making a KL to DL connection at YVR--and it was pretty slick.
Still waiting for the 727-9MAX with PW GTF engines... The ultimate 757 replacement.
