Good morning everyone, I figured there is probably someone that can answer this question. My friend is dating an FA who works for skywest. She has told it would cost him $250 to get on as he called it the "flight list" I am assuming that means make him eligible for non rev travel similar to what the FA has. Just a few questions
would that open him up to flights on UA, AA, DL etc
would he have to travel with her on every single flight (they both have odd hour jobs and have had to take seperate flights in the past when they went on a trip)
Before he would drop the $250 I would want to tell him what that would get.
Thanks a lot

He would have pass privileges on OO and UA. Based upon her seniority. He'd be on the standby list every flight and only get a seat if all paying passengers and those employees and their guests with a higher priority number are seated first.
My son is a OO employee and I use the passes regularly but I have to watch the flights and where I want to go as UA keeps pretty high load factors and it's difficult to get a seat to where I want to go sometimes. I've also experienced times where I flew to my destination and when it was time to return the flight back was oversold and I had to wait a day or two or three for a seat to open up. One time when the flights were full I had to rent a car and drive 300 miles in order to find a flight with room. That was an expensive trip.
It's great when you can find seats to where you want to go but when flights are sold out you're screwed. And good luck getting into places like Vegas, Hawaii, NYC, Miami, and the Caribbean as those locations are in high demand by paying customers and those with high seniority numbers. However, if Springfield, Missouri or Lincoln, Nebraska are his travel hot spots he should be good to go.
He can fly by himself without her present. He has to carry himself as he were representing the airline at all times. He can't ask for special treatment, upgrades, etc. He shows up to the airport looking nice, goes to the gate, sits down, and waits for his name to be called from the standby list. He can't bug the CSA's for a favor or a better seat, can't drop her name hoping to get a break. You are always on your best behavior with everyone you come in contact with as the airline can suspend her pass privileges should your friend step out of line.
It will cost her $250 to get him on her travel privileges list and they pull it directly out of her paycheck.
I've enjoyed my privileges. I've been to Japan, Hawaii, Vegas, Florida, DC, and plan on hitting Germany and Australia this summer, space permitting. I flew to SFO and had lunch one day. I flew to LAX and had lunch at the Proud Bird and flew home that evening. I flew to Oregon and went white water rafting and fishing. But I have to flexible with my plans as I know I can be stuck without notice. But it sure is fun.

A couple of years ago I sat next to a young woman on a UA flight. From what I picked up from our conversation, her mom worked for SkyWest and she was non-reving home from a weekend trip to Switzerland that she took "just because". So I would assume that SkyWest employees and their families get to non rev on UA.

With OO he should get benefits on US, DL, and UA. Even though they fly for AA they do not get any pass privileges. The only downfall is that you receive a much lower boarding priority, boarding after active mainline employees, retirees, and then their family members.
Listen Betty, don't start up with your white zone shit again.
