I was on a flight this morning and as we pushed back from g15 I saw a UA 744 at g8. Does anyone know what it was doing there?

It was probably this aircraft. FlightAware shows it as operating UA836 from PVG-ORD and diverting to MSP yesterday.

I saw the plane move over from the remote parking to G-9 last night right before it was scheduled to head back to ORD. I assume due to the already long flight from PVG, and sitting on the ground for 3 hrs, the crew timed out. They would have had to use the "G" gates to clear customs if terminal 2 was full. They towed it over to the regular United "E" gates this morning. That must look funny sitting there surrounded by all the little E-jets
