Hi everyone,

I'm a bit confused on what aircraft AA operates of DFW-LHR and LHR-DFW. The information on AA.com sometimes varies with what is displayed on flightaware.

AA50 / AA51- Clearly a 77W.
AA78 / AA79- 77W (on aa.com) or 772 (on flightaware)?
AA80 / AA81- Seems to switch back and forth between a 763 and 772. When do the switches occur?

AA78/79 is a 772.

AA80/81 changed to a 763 on June 11th, not sure when or if it will revert back to a 772.

If travelling coach, AA80/81 is the plane to be on at the moment, love the 2-3-2 Y layout on the 763.

Agreed. I would say that the 77W is the one you want to avoid - I flew LHR-DFW about two months ago in the 77W in coach and it was extremely uncomfortable. I was in an aisle seat and constantly getting battered by people walking by - totally unbearable.

Does anyone know why AA80/81 was switched to a 763?

Possibly due to the increased capacity of the 77W being placed on the route?

Interesting, thank you!

Ew, no. No IFE/moving map for nine hours would be terrible. I flew the AA 763 DFW-LAX a few weeks ago, and the three hour flight seemed long enough in a cabin with decades-old seats and CRT monitors.

Its a plane ride, not a trip to the local Odeon.
Have flown1st RTW without bothering to watch a film.
Look out those windows.... the view is amazing.

If in economy, you can do MCE. It's the best of both worlds...772 has personal IFE but not MCE; 763 has MCE but not personal IFE on that route (to my understanding...feel free to correct, as I haven't been in a 763 on DFW-LHR or DFW-MAD or other DFW-Europe routes)...but the 77W has great IFE as well as MCE, which I have been on and was quite happy with (extra legroom and one less seat per row).

So yeah, if you're just doing regular economy, I would absolutely take the 772 since I prefer personal IFE to MCE on a longer flight (just personal preference). But the 77W offers both, so I cannot say that it would be the worst option by any means.

In the event you're planning a future trip....why not book on BA? If you're flying coach, I'd select BA any day over AA, especially since you can earn AAdvantage points too. Just my 2 cents.
