UA 1895, SFO-TPA today (Sunday), should arrive around 14:00. First I thought maybe MX at Pemco, but it shows going to gate A-11. Anyone know why?

Perhaps a British Open charter of some sort?

Military charter? Tampa is home to the U.S. Central Command and San Diego is home to the U.S. Seventh Fleet command.

SFO to TPA and you arrived at a Charter for the British Open? How many professional golfers do you know live on the Gulf side of Florida?

Nothing to do with British Open. Besides, most anyone who is not playing in another tournament that concludes today is already there.

The PGA Tour stop this week is the John Deere Classic in Illinois. John Deere pays for a 767 charter to the Open Championship that is free to any players in the JDC Field who also are in the Open.

There is an airport less than a mile from the golf course, the plane can been seen plain as day from blimp shots and leaves immediately following the conclusion of the John Deere Classic for a redeye into the UK.

You mis-quoted me, I said nothing of a charter for the British Open...that was another user.

I'm pretty sure many of us know that 8194 (N194UA) is the charter config that UA has. It is UA's website that shows it is going to gate A-11, along with TPA's twitter feed.

Absolutely, just wondering if anyone has more specifics. Having lived in both Tampa Bay and San Diego my entire life, the only other non-stop flights between the two areas have been NFL charters. Never seen '194 visit Tampa before.

Well, I set up for gate A-11....and guess what....it didn't go there. It went to D. So therefore, I had set up for the wrong side and totally missed the shot. I'm thoroughly pissed right now!!!

Does anyone have any guess if it will be 19R or 19L. Listening to live atc right now and they seem to use 19L for takeoff and 19R for landing. But 19R is longer and I'd think they use that for 744 takeoff. Thinking of going to Cypress park to watch it with my son.

I was out there about 45 minutes ago, they were taking off on 19R which is the runway they normally use when taking off to the south.

Yeah I continued listening and it seems they are using both for takeoff and landing. Here's hoping assumption of larger aircraft to use longer runway pays off. That and it doesn't start raining

Seriously. I will NEVER understand moderator decisions here. It really makes using this site frustrating and if another site had the community this one does, I probably wouldn't even visit. Even Militarty would make more sense that travel and polls.

ANYWAYS... Where did it end up parking?

Weird the FAA chart doesn't have Airside D but I assume it is the "Remote Aircraft Parking" between C and E by A7 and V6 - http://155.178.201.160/d-tpp/1407/00416AD.PDF

There parking location and size lead me to believe a 19R departure is the best bet.

I missed it too. We were on the Howard Franklin. They moved the wheels up time from 4:16 to 3:45. Missed it by 5 minutes.
