I'm flying JFK-LHR on BA in December and I was wondering what to expect as compared to an American airline. I've flown across the pond before with VS and DL. Should I expect much of the same or something different? Thanks for the help.

Been about 4 years since my flight on VS, but the amenity packet on VS was better than BA. Still, both are better than what you get on a US carrier ... nothing.
FA's on VS made me want to be English! Absolutely gorgeous people, very hot. BA also very attractive FA's. Again ... their accent rocks. Melts me like butter.
BA flight in March ’04 was very comfortable. 777 is very quite, even in steerage, and the lavs are both numerous and sufficient. The BA economy seat was the best I have ever had. My VS flight (A340) was quite too, I think. They FA's kept me full of wine so not sure about the noise
Any European carrier will be yield a more pleasurable Trans Atlantic experience than a US. I am a complete patriot and I love the US, but the service of our airlines don't stack up against the European (I’ve only done three). Then again, foreign carriers don't have to deal with the issues we do … both extensive domestic and international service surely add levels of complexity that I, as a passenger, will never understand. I salute our US carriers. Unequivocally.

Quiet = not loud
Quite = large quantity/degree
BA has good cheese and pickle sandwiches on their flights from London to Europe.
They are also famous for the quality of their intercontinental service, so you are pretty safe with them. Then again, VS does have amazingly good looking F/As
