Im planning a trip to Asia for later this year and I thought I'd ask the knowledgeable people of A.net to give me an idea who has the best A-Class to Asia. The choices I have are:

-Japan Airlines
-Cathay Pacific
-Korean Air
-Malaysia Airlines
-American
-Delta

I'll be using either a OneWorld or SkyTeam Award so the options to Asia are limited.

Another option I have is using a Y award over the Pacific and a Biz Class award within Asia. Unfortunately, I dont have enough miles for a SE Asia Business Class award (110,000 on OW and 120,000 on SkyTeam). These are the times I wish I had Star Alliance for their 90,000 Biz Class Award.

Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

I would definitely go for JAL, because of the magic IFE entertainment and all round snacks and beverages are available. I don't say that the other airlines are bad, but I have flown all of the above and I would recommend JL.

I have flown MH in economy which was excellent only their ground crew lost two of my bags and we got them back with a lot of stuff missing.
I ve heard that their new Buss class product is simply excellent.

My Father recently flew CX in Buss, And he could not stop praising their food and menus.

Jal is also good.

Atleast tell us which routes you will be flying

My routing is not set in stone yet but I want to do at least 3 days in Phuket Thailand. Ill probably buy a ticket from SIN, BKK or KUL to HKT.

A couple options:

1) Y award to ICN via KE (60,000 Skymiles) and then a Biz class award from ICN on KE to BKK or SIN(30,000 Skymiles). I know KE flies directly to Phuket but the times are not convenient.

2) J award on JAL to NRT (90,000 AA miles) and then NRT-BKK J award on KE (30,000 SkyMiles). I have this one on hold.

What would you do? Save your miles and do the Y award from the US and then the KE Biz Award or J class all the way with JL and KE?

I do have a question....would the taxes be cheaper if I went ORD-NRT-ICN on JAL instead of ORD-NRT and then KE from NRT? Right now both awards amount to about $95 USD in taxes. Can I get it any lower?

If you are Skyteam, why not look at Northwest? All the A330's and 747-400's have excellent food and inflight entertainment

MCI777,
You don't say where you're originating, so based on the flag, I'll assume the US:
i) On long haul routes (nothing personal, but) avoid all US carriers, they don't do it well (even if Delta may provide a cm more seat pitch)
ii) Asian carriers are all generally of high service standard
iii) I'd go with CX: great service in all classes, good IFE, food, seating; not sure of your OW status, but if you have lounge access, the CX lounges in HKG are amazingly good and destinations in their own right; Y is good; J is very good and F is rated by Skytrax as the world's No.1 First Class

I would fly JAL as a spotter. I love the video channels that show you forward, down, back, and sides views from the plane. You can watch the ground go away on take-off and come closer on approach. It is awsome.
JL has lots of connections and destinations within Asia from multiple airports. They also serve many airports in the U.S.

NW is nice in business. But in Coach.. YUCK!

I have a student flying over on AA in April and she is excited at the space and seating in Y. But AA has limited destinations. All depends on where you are going in Asia.

I would rank it as 1)JL 2)MH 3)CX 4)KE

Yes...I am not a KIX fan. Let's Japanese Aviation!
